Keyless locking devices, shrink discs, rigid couplings, brakes, and clutches, distributed through our long-term partnerships with MAV Italy and PRECIMA Germany.
The PFL power transmission department provides personal and professional advice to customers across various industries for propulsion technology components. Our long-term partnerships with MAV (Italy) and PRECIMA (Germany) guarantee that we consistently deliver the right technical and commercial solution.
Our department for motive power engineering supplies industries with components for machine construction: conic clamping elements, clamping disks, shaft-hub connections, couplings, and linear motorizing solutions. We also provide custom designs to customer specifications when standard products don't fit the application.
PRECIMA produces over 650,000 units per year with more than 200 employees. Their standard product range covers braking torques from 0.5 to 1,600 Nm, all cCSAus approved for worldwide use.

Keyless locking devices, shrink discs, and rigid couplings based on the forced-connection principle. Easy mounting and dismounting for maintenance-friendly shaft-hub connections.

Electromagnetically actuated spring-loaded brakes and clutches. ISO 9001:2015 certified, cCSAus approved. 200+ employees, 650,000+ units per year. Torque range 0.5–1,600 Nm.
Keyless locking assemblies based on the forced-connection principle. Creates a friction-based shaft-hub connection without keyways or splines. Easy mounting and dismounting without special tools, no pressing, no heating. Self-centering and capable of transmitting high torques reliably.
External shrink connection that fixes the hub to the shaft from outside by compressing the hollow shaft onto the solid shaft. High torque transmission capacity, completely backlash-free. Ideal where internal locking is not possible due to bore geometry.
Completely backlash-free shaft-to-shaft connection using keyless locking technology on both sides. Shafts with different diameters can be connected. Fast, tool-free installation and removal. Suitable for precise positioning applications where zero backlash is critical.
Electromagnetically actuated single-disk brakes with two friction surfaces. Fail-safe design, braking force applied by pressure springs in the currentless state. Torque range 0.5–1,600 Nm. cCSAus approved for worldwide use. ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Electromagnetic clutches and current-operated brakes for advanced machine and apparatus construction. Available with half-wave and bridge rectifiers, fast excitation rectifiers (PMG) for reduced release times, and current detection relays (PMS) for DC-side switching.

Contact Our TeamA keyless locking device creates a friction-based shaft-hub connection without using keyways, splines, or interference fits. Tightening the locking screws generates radial pressure between the inner and outer rings, clamping the hub securely to the shaft. The key advantage is easy mounting and dismounting, no press fitting, no heating, no special tools. The connection is also self-centering and can transmit high torques.
PRECIMA spring-loaded brakes are fail-safe brakes. Pressure springs apply the braking force in the de-energized (currentless) state, meaning the brake is engaged when power is off. An electromagnetic coil releases the brake when current is applied. This design ensures the brake engages automatically during power failure, making it essential for safety-critical applications like elevators, cranes, and hoists.
PRECIMA's standard brake range covers 0.5 to 1,600 Nm braking torque. Multiple brake types are available: Type FDB (standard/adjustable), Type FDW (IP66), Type FDD (double independent brakes for elevator applications), Type FDR (twin-rotor for high torque in compact space), and Type FLC (holding brake with emergency stop). For requirements outside the standard range, custom solutions are available.
Yes. MAV rigid couplings allow backlash-free connection of shafts with different diameters. The coupling uses keyless locking technology on both sides, so each bore can be a different size. Installation and removal are fast and simple, no heating, no pressing, no special tools required.
Yes. All PRECIMA products are cCSAus approved for worldwide use. The manufacturing facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified. The double spring-loaded brake Type FDD has type-approval testing in accordance with EN 81-1 for elevator applications, and all brakes are suitable for equipment according to DIN 56925 and DIN 56921-11.
Yes. PFL's power transmission department provides personal technical consultation to help you select the right component for your application. We analyze your torque requirements, shaft dimensions, operating environment, duty cycle, and safety requirements, then recommend the optimal product from the MAV or PRECIMA range, or propose a custom solution if standard products don't fit.
Yes. Complete product catalogs with technical data, dimensions, and ordering information are available in the downloads section of this page. The PRECIMA catalog includes spring-loaded brakes, clutches, rectifiers, and accessories. MAV product information covers the full range of locking devices, shrink discs, and rigid couplings.
PRECIMA offers a full range of accessories: half-wave and bridge rectifiers, fast excitation rectifiers (PMG) for reduced release times, current detection relays (PMS) for DC-side switching without neutral conductor, and various sealing and mounting options. The fast excitation rectifier PMG is recommended when short release times or low power dissipation are required.
Locking devices work from the inside — they expand against the bore of the hub while gripping the shaft. Shrink discs work from the outside, they compress the hub (hollow shaft) onto the shaft from the external surface. The choice depends on the available space, the hub design, and the required torque. Both create friction-based connections without keyways.
Contact PFL's power transmission department with your application requirements: shaft diameter, torque, speed, environment, and duty cycle. We will recommend the right product, confirm pricing and availability, and handle the complete order process including delivery to your facility. For standard components, lead times are typically short. Custom designs require additional engineering time.
Our power transmission specialists will help you select the right locking device, coupling, brake, or clutch for your application.
