Overview

Complete Inspection Systems

Turnkey projects developed by PFL Antralux leverage the combined experience and skills of engineers from the entire PFL Group. This means your project benefits from specialists in air gauging, electronic measurement, mechanical design, PLC programming, and production integration, all working under one management structure.

100% process control has long been standard practice in the automobile industry, but this level of quality assurance is fast becoming the norm in hydraulics, medical devices, aerospace, and general precision engineering. PFL's turnkey solutions give you the infrastructure to achieve complete production inspection without building an in-house metrology engineering department.

We maintain full control over every project phase: concept, development, production, assembly, testing, installation, and final acceptance. With our long experience and flexibility in engineering projects of various complexity, you have the assurance that the approved technical solution will be delivered on time and within the agreed budget.

PFL Group: 70 engineers, 6,000 m² production surface, 50 CNC machines, thousands of successfully completed projects across 50+ years.

What We Deliver

PFL turnkey projects combine dimensional measurement, leak testing, and automated part handling into complete inspection systems.

Automated dimensional inspection station
Dimensional Inspection
Air Gauging + Electronic Probes

Automated dimensional inspection stations that measure internal/external diameters, depths, heights, angles, form, and position, using PFL's own air gauging and PRETEC inductive probe technologies. Multi-feature, multi-station configurations with automated part handling.

Automated leak testing station in production line
Leak Testing
Pressure Decay + Bubble Test

Integrated leak test stations with custom sealing fixtures, automated pressurization circuits, and OK/NOK part sorting. Absolute and differential pressure decay methods detect porosity, cracks, and sealing defects before assembly.

Complete inspection cell for automotive production
Complete Inspection Cells
Multi-Technology Integration

Full inspection cells that combine dimensional measurement, leak testing, visual inspection, and part marking in a single automated workflow. Robotic part handling, PLC sequencing, SPC data acquisition, and real-time feedback to CNC machines for closed-loop manufacturing.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about PFL turnkey projects, scope, timelines, and capabilities.

What does "turnkey" actually mean?

Turnkey means you receive a complete, ready-to-operate system. PFL handles everything, concept design, mechanical and electrical engineering, component procurement, manufacturing, assembly, software development, testing, installation at your site, operator training, and formal acceptance. You "turn the key" and start inspecting parts. No need to coordinate multiple suppliers or integrate subsystems yourself.

What is the typical project timeline?

Timelines depend on complexity. A semi-automatic dedicated bench typically takes 12–16 weeks. A fully automated multi-station inspection cell with robotic handling can take 20–30 weeks. We provide a detailed schedule with milestone dates at the proposal stage, and our track record demonstrates consistent on-time delivery.

Can you combine dimensional measurement and leak testing?

Yes, that is one of PFL's key differentiators. Because we manufacture both dimensional measurement equipment (air gauging, electronic probes) and leak test machines, we can integrate both into a single automated cell. The part is loaded once, measured dimensionally, leak tested, and sorted, all in one automated workflow controlled by a single PLC.

Do you offer fixed-price contracts?

Yes. Once the technical specification is agreed and frozen, we provide a fixed-price quotation covering all phases from design through installation and acceptance. Changes in scope requested after order placement are handled through a formal change order process with transparent cost impact assessment.

Can your systems provide feedback to CNC machines?

Yes. This is called closed-loop manufacturing. Our inspection system measures the part, calculates the deviation from nominal, and sends a tool offset correction back to the upstream CNC machine, automatically. This keeps the process centered without operator intervention, reduces scrap, and enables lights-out production. We support communication via Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, or discrete I/O.

What level of automation do you support?

We build systems at every automation level: manual (operator loads part, presses start, reads result), semi-automatic (manual loading, automated measurement cycle and data logging), and fully automatic (robotic loading, automated measurement, OK/NOK sorting, no operator required). The right level depends on your production volume, cycle time, and available floor space.

How do you handle acceptance testing?

We perform a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at our facility before shipping, where the customer's quality team verifies performance against the specification. After on-site installation, we conduct a Site Acceptance Test (SAT) using production parts. Both tests include Gage R&R studies, cycle time verification, and documentation review. The system is not considered delivered until the customer signs off on the SAT.

Do you provide training for our operators?

Yes. Operator training and maintenance training are included in every turnkey project. We train your operators on daily use, part loading procedures, basic troubleshooting, and calibration verification routines. Maintenance personnel receive training on preventive maintenance, spare parts replacement, and diagnostic procedures. All training is documented in the handover package.

What after-sales support is available?

PFL offers spare parts stocking, service contracts, periodic calibration services, and remote diagnostics. Our engineering offices across five European countries (Switzerland, France, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia) provide local technical support. Remote access can often resolve software issues within hours. For hardware issues, we maintain spare parts availability and can dispatch service engineers promptly.

Where are PFL turnkey systems built?

Turnkey systems are designed and built by PFL Group, primarily at PFL Antralux SA in Le Landeron, Switzerland, with engineering and production support from offices in France, Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia. This international structure allows PFL to optimize project delivery by leveraging the full group's manufacturing capacity and specialized engineering skills while maintaining Swiss quality standards.
